Description:
We are thrilled to announce the special vinyl edition of neoprogsters Akenathon’s 3rd album, Crónicas Intrascendentes. Rooted in Argentina’s rich prog tradition, yet defiantly genre-crossing, Akenathon’s latest eclectic progeny marks a deep exploration of cinematic textures, dark atmospheres, and intricate arrangements. Since their formation in 2000, Akenathon has been at the forefront of Argentina’s thriving and trailblazing neoprog scene, carving a unique path that combines classical training, jazz, metal, hard rock, electronic textures, and progressive rock, in a unique fusion style. Crónicas Intrascendentes features seven tracks that balance refined eclecticism with symphonic complexity, against the background of the permeating concept of suppressed memories, alternative temporality and unobservable experiences. The album kicks off in a cinematic mode with “Queja de un Bufón,” a dynamic, dark progression that might be likened to a prog metal re-imagining of Goblin via the theatricality of Arcturus, while flowing smoothly into the symphonically oriented “Irresistible Tic”. The symphonic aura continues to encapsulate the otherwise polymorphic compositions that ensue, stretching from the tango passages of “Vincent y Los Cuervos” to the shrieking guitars of “La Muerte del Zapatero,” while the album concludes most unexpectedly with the cosmic psychedelic raga of Huellas. This special limited edition comes in 200 hand-numbered copies, 100 in black, and 100 in splatter vinyl, with a 2-page insert.
