First LP for the new year on Feral Child is the amazing new full length from prolific, Berlin born multi-instrumentalist Dave Schmidt in his Sula Bassana guise. His incredible output over several years now merges heavy hitters of mind melting psychedelia with neo-kraut/kosmische grooves via various bands, Zone Six, Electric Moon, Krautzone, Liquid Visions, Solaris and many more... His own label Sulatron is a go-to treasure trove of worldwide psych acts and where most of his output appears, however 'Reisen' here is a welcome reunion with Dom @ Feral Child having previously released Zone Six and Electric Moon on previous labels. 'Reisen' ('Journeys') features two extraordinary side long pieces of Kosmische, described by Dave as "electronic requiems" for two losses he experienced in 1999. Both incredible forays into Berlin school exploratory electronics and released here as a first time on vinyl; recalling key period Klaus Schulze, Edgar Froese and co. and whilst both pieces could sit effortlessly within the Brain or Sky catalogues, they each sound super contemporary and as strong as anything in Dave's crowded and revered oeuvre. Limited vinyl release (300 copies) on purple wax and with a neat SB bar coaster.
