Description:

The Exalted King" was the COSMIC DEAD's follow up to their 2011 self-titled debut, which was for many the definitive mind expanding statement of the last 10 years. Now, their 2nd opus at last has a repressing on double vinyl format via Cardinal Fuzz (Europe) and Sky Lantern Records (USA) with a very eye popping reworking of the original artwork on a heavy card gate-fold sleeve. From the Icarus-like trance ascension of opener "The Exalted King", the band enters to a deeply mind blowing interplay between trip-rock experiments and cosmic ambition. Each album side is uninterrupted, a continuous stream of deep spaced out zones recalling the rich tones and pulse of your early 70s kosmische heroes with latter day stoned-out psychedelia. Sometimes wandering in silently dark semi-acoustic mysteries of the cosmos, and in the next moment orbiting to walls of sound with outer space echoes and alien atmospheres. The COSMIC DEAD know how to ride the edge of groove and gently cut back to spacey atmospherics to superb effect. The record explodes their sound in all directions; spacier, trippier, headier and far more expansive than ever. Revivalists have attempted to capture and modernize the sound, and retro enthusiasts have grappled in authenticity, but the COSMIC DEAD are beyond: they ARE that sound! It's music floating so naturally that immediately puts the listener into a state where time seems to disappear. They invite you to experience intense flashbacks of tribal british space rock and 70's krautrock bubbled through a psych filter. A cosmic fan's nirvana. Not to be missed! Julian Dicken: drums / Omar Aborida: bass / James T. McKay: guitar / Lewis Cook: synthesizers Originally released on the Cosmik Eye label this new repressing comes via Cardianl Fuzz and Sky Lantern Records (while the Cosmik Eye take a little break from releasing music). Exalted King – The Cosmic Dead is available as an edition of 557 Double LP's. "Lysergic acid diethylamidian monstrous waves of sonic colour, we've landed home, inside a black hole of fuck." - Beard Rock "The Exalted King takes its sweet-ass time to worm into your brain, through your ears, and lays some alien eggs. A dark trip worth exploring if you’re made of the right stuff." - Fast 'N' Bulbous "The three tracks here ('The Exalted King', 'Anatta' and 'Anaphora') make up 70 minutes of free-roaming psych-rock that could make straightedge Fugazi man Ian MacKaye feel like he was 'seriously tripping off his balls' (or something to that effect)." – Soundblab “Listen close enough to the 34-minute opening title track of The Cosmic Dead‘s The Exalted King and I’m pretty sure you can hear the universe expand.” The Obelisk
